Reluctant to replace LED lighting, this the worst lighting store in the UK has to close
Jul 31, 2018

The store is Rackhams, a Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK, and is one of 31 stores that will be closed as part of a restructuring plan under the House of Fraser, a century-old British store.

In recent years, the store has been criticized by lighting professionals for its poor lighting. Lighting professionals have criticized the store for poor business, aging damage to lamps, bare wires, and chaotic light sources. Therefore, Rackhams was dubbed "the worst store in the UK".

Closing the store is part of the proposed CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement), which requires approval from creditors and is scheduled to be decided on June 22.

Frank Slevin, chairman of the House of Fraser, told the press: "The retail industry is undergoing fundamental changes, and the Fulaisha Department Store urgently needs to adapt to this rapidly changing situation, creating the future and making it flourish. ”

As the retail industry is responding to the rapid rise of online shopping, Fulaisha Department Store is one of the many high-end brands that announced the closure of the store this year.

While flagship stores are still equipped with interiors that emphasize the shopping experience, so-called traditional stores like Rackhams may lack investment.

Some retailers like Rackhams have delayed lighting upgrades to save money, retaining outdated lighting such as traditional fluorescent and halogen lamps, rather than investing in energy-efficient LED lighting.
